BSc, BA, MA, MBA, MPHIL, PHD, EMERITUS etc., these are all degrees we attain in our educational systems. These are all based on the number of works you have done or published or the level you attain, in other words the higher you achieve, the higher the qualification. This is not so for Sin, with sin there is no degree- no matter how little or how big it is, the name does not change, you are not awarded more because you did more, or awarded less because you did less. Sometimes we try and sugarcoat certain acts and try to make them seem OK but no matter how tiny it may be, it is still Sin. And you should never be comfortable with it, do not remain in it, do not consciously decide to postpone your repentance or consciously decide to engage in that act no matter how tiny it may be. It is not just murder or fornication that is a Sin.

Once you have the Holy Spirit in you, you should not be comfortable or ok living in Sin. You should not be ok when you fall. Godly sorrow is good, sometimes you need to feel as terrible as you can be if only it will help you wake up and turn a new leaf. We are soldiers, when we fall, we have to get right back up. Should we continue to sin because Grace abounds? By No means! Even by our standards when we feel we are ok and have not sinned, our garments may be so filthy, how much more when we Sin. The guilt you feel coming before your father, The Holy One.

Sin makes us so numb, it gives the enemy room to tell us we are unworthy, room for him to lie to us, room for us to fall. So why would one want to take such a path and feel so low? We have to consciously try our best to live without sin so that nothing will hinder us from giving off our best to the one who deserves it all. The Holy Spirit is our strength but sometimes boundaries need to be put in place. These boundaries need to be upheld well and one needs to be disciplined. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. A life devoid of sin is more than possible, let’s work towards that. God bless you.
