We have the right to not be offended by the actions and utterances of others. People should know how to speak and act around us so they do not push our trigger buttons. That surely will be nice. One can notice sometimes that those who are very sensitive when it comes to how easily they get offended, are most often than not, those who are also quite insensitive when it comes to their actions and speech towards others (this is not always the case though).

Did you know that with every right comes a responsibility? Well, if you didnt, today you do. Inasmuch as you have the right to not get offended, the responsibility to not get offended lies on you. Makes sense? Simply put, you cannot control the actions and utterances of others, but you can control how you receive them and your actions towards them.

Let us consider a scripture from Matthew 15:26-27, . But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Did the reply of Jesus come off as insulting? Do you believe the woman in this verse had every right to be offended? It did come off as an insult to us the readers, but for the woman, she did not see it as so. She knew who she was and what she needed and as such, was unmoved by her being likened to a dog. She had the right to be offended, but she chose to be responsible for herself and her reaction towards that. Did she get what she came for? Yes, she did.

Beloved, I am not saying do not defend yourself sometimes and stand for yourself when you need to. This is just a gentle reminder that you, and only you, have control over your actions, reactions, emotions, and even utterances. What people say do not define who you are. Do not let their words pull you down. Focus on your purpose and aim to achieve it. Never allow others to get you to lose focus because of words that are seemingly meant to get you offended and cause you react out of place.

God bless you
