A time to break down, And a time to build up; Ecclesiastes 3:3b
Jesus actually stated, “I will tear down this temple and raise it up in three days.” John 2:19. The fact that it took 46 years to construct that temple led to a great deal of bewilderment among the Jews in attendance. Not only is it nearly impossible for one man to dismantle it in a day, but it was also difficult to imagine raising it back up in three days. We do learn what he meant by saying, however that is a topic for another day.
What aspects of your life need to be broken down? We can have the correct basis yet be constructing something very different from what is shown in the blueprint, or we might be building on a flawed foundation. I have to admit that we have developed some traits, behaviours, and even beliefs that are fundamentally incorrect and must be deconstructed. As was the case with the apostle Paul, our fervour to serve and obey God can occasionally lead us to develop some powerful but flawed doctrines that must be dispelled.
If you want to read more books, you may need to spend less time watching films or engaging in other time-consuming hobbies. It might even be to quit putting things off. In order to make place for the perfect habits, character traits, or anything else you wish to see in your life this year, you must break off from the old ones that were not helping you. In other words, there can be no building up if there is no breaking down.
Give it some thought, assess your objectives, and decide which ones may conflict with what you are currently doing or intend to do. If such situations arise, be aware that you must first break down in order to move closer to your goal.
God bless you
