One of my favorite songs is a song by Tommy Walker titled, When I Do Not Know What To Do. I love that song so much because it describes situations that we often find ourselves in as humans. There are times that we do not know what to do, what to think, or what to say, but in those moments God has a special remedy for us.
When you do not know what to say.

When Job was deeply grieving, his friends visited and for seven days they did not know what to say so they just sat there and wept with him (Job 2). What words can you offer to a friend who seem to have lost it all? I have had times when friends will confide in me and for a period of time, I would be thinking about the right things to say and the right words to use. Sometimes words come easily and certain times they do not. What then do you say?
In Job 4:7-9 however we see his friends beginning to talk, trying to find words to say to their friend, but their words were speculative and judgmental. Sincerely, it would have been better if they had left after crying with him because they kept saying all the wrong things. Since they were not saying the right things, Job had to tell them what he needed from them in that moment.
In moments where we do not know what to say, Let us just listen, listen, and listen. Let’s listen to what the grieving person is saying, listen to what God is saying concerning the matter, then we can clearly speak the mind and intent of God to the person to soothe his wounds. Never be in a rush to speak. My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak (James 1:19). Learn to Listen.
In moments where we do not know what to say, Let us just listen, listen, and listen.

May God fill us with divine sensitivity that mere words cannot attain and divine sensitivity to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying when we do not know what to say. AMEN.

Learn to listen, listen and listen ☺️
