When He heard what had happened he exclaimed, “it is the prophet who disobeyed the Lord’s command; the Lord fulfilled his warning by causing the lion to kill him. 1Kings 13:26

The passage (in 1 Kings 13) is one of the intriguing stories among the lot. The background story is about a young prophet ordered by God to deliver a message to a king. He was given specific instructions on what not to do after he delivered the message (verses 1-25). I believe we all have received a word concerning this year from our pastors in our local churches. They not only gave a word but also admonished you on how to live to please God. Fantastic!
Before we go any further, did you inquire of the Lord on what to do personally? If you did not, then allow the Holy Spirit help you in engaging the prophecy given by your pastor for the year ahead. Not only engage but perform the necessary actions that would make His word come alive.

In reference to the above Bible text, we are to obey the convictions of the Holy Spirit in our everyday life. We are to be confident in the voice of God over our lives. We are encouraged to not be deceived by an old prophet without consulting God regardless of their title. Should we fall short, may the Lord have mercy and not allow the lion to devour us. Stick to the word for the season, the word and God always agree. Pray through it. Pray with the word. Stay grinding using the word and by so  doing, your discernment will be sharpened.

If we aren’t sure of a theme for our lives. Let’s use OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WORD. For God is always a rewarder; doing exceedingly, abundantly above all we could ever imagine. His word seeks to prosper us and keep us from all harm. Your obedience to His word keeps you in safety. Obey lest the enemy who roams around like a roaring lion devours you. Our surest safety is obedience to God Most High.

Stick to the word for the season, the word and God always agree. Pray through it. Pray with the word.

My earnest prayer for us is that, we believe in our prayer and that we believe in the voice of God upon our lives. That we come to a place of knowledge where we align ourselves to the word of God and use His word as the only standard in all our dealings. That we know that we are God’s and we are for God.

May the Holy Spirit bring a Revelation into His purpose for us. That our obedience to the voice of God will not only bring breakthrough but consistent favor all year round.
